"Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind."

Rudyard Kipling

Writing good features is about opening a door, for the briefest moment, on somebody else's life.

My writing aims to be personal without being intrusive, colourful without being verbose and evocative without being syrupy.

"When people talk, listen completely. Most people never listen."
Ernest Hemingway

My interviewing style is relaxed - conversational rather than a series of questions and answers.

I believe the more open the interview, the more likely you are to find the most interesting story.

I'm a feature writer for the Bristol Evening Post and Western Daily Press.
